Date(s) - Saturday 20th October 2018 - Sunday 21st October 2018
This weekend Introduction to Permaculture course offers a chance to get to grips with the core principles of permaculture, its origins and its applications. Permaculture has developed into something that can be applied to every aspect of our lives from self-development to agriculture….so what’s it all about?
It is a set of design principles, inspired by natural self-sustaining systems and based upon the ethics of caring for people, the planet and our combined future. In our introduction you’ll learn about these principles and how they are relevant to your own situation, and how to apply them to your daily life. The course will include the following subjects:
Linking – creating systems
Observation – land and people
Gardening – composting, mulching, polycultures, perennials
Saturday 20th October 10:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday 21st October 10:00am – 4:00pm
Each day there will be a 15 minute tea break in the morning and in the afternoon (drinks and biscuits provided). There will be a 45 minute lunch break at 1:00pm (lunch not provided).
The course will be held on the Goffin Lands- home of the Off Grid Festival, on the edge of Exeter. Their beautiful timber barn will be our classroom, with plenty of outdoor space to explore and learn from. The course is non-residential, but if you would like information about local accommodation and camping, drop us an email and we can help you find somewhere nearby. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, but no meals, so bring a packed lunch.
Caroline Aitken has been teaching permaculture at venues and events around the country for several years and originally trained with Patrick Whitefield (author of The Earth Care Manual), with whom she worked for 8 years. Caroline has a background in market gardening, horticulture, smallholding and design and teaches with clarity and experience.
